Architecture wise, Valire’s Solution consists of two main components; the Validator® and the
SAProbe® (see diagram 1) .
The SAProbe® is a proprietary SAP connector linked online to the SAP database. The SAProbe® obtains business events from the SAP system and conveys them to the Validator® database, a “read only” non-intrusive activity that places insignificant load on the SAP system, and thus, has no effect on its performance. Similar probes can be custom- developed by Valire to support other applications integrated with the SAP system. Obtaining the events is done once. Each event is converted on the fly to a business format object that is stored in the Validator embedded data base.
The Validator® design
The Validator® consists of three components (see diagram 2)
Rule development & management – This sub-system enables end-users to set the enterprise’s Business Validation Rules (BVRs) in the system via a GUI application named Studio. The Studio is an easy-to-use application that simplifies the creation, maintenance, and management of BVRs. This sub-system also enables the set-up of business rule libraries. Business rule libraries are folders containing pre-defined rules for a frequently implemented ERP modules or vertical processes that serve vertical industry needs. These libraries save time and resources as they enable knowledge retention from experience gained out in previous projects.
Validation engine – This is the core sub-system responsible for processing the business events stream in real-time through the BVRs that are fed into the engine from the BVR database. Once an error is detected, it is immediately sent to the Result Management module.
Result Management, Real Time Alert and Report – This sub-system is responsible for handling error reporting. The Business user has a customized view and analysis Portal in which he sets-up his own desired view of the business process analysis presented on the home page. The analysis is presented by analytic graphs determined by the user. There is a variety of report analysis that fits different level of users such as business management, project team, QA personnel etc. The business users can create collaboration forums where they interact with each other on the action plan needed to be done for a specific error or group of errors.
The result management module is also used to setup the alert mechanism where each user can register to get online error alerts from a specific business validation rule or from a group of rules (that normally represent a business process). Additionally, this sub-system can include dynamic projections of QA status onto the requirement specification document. This way the requirement spec is transformed into a dynamic document that can be used actively by the management to review project status.
